4.0 Configuration
This selection determines if the pMDDL5824 will obtain an IP address
from a DHCP server on the attached network, or if a static IP address
will be entered. If a Static IP Address is chosen, the fields that follow
must also be populated.

mask that separates the
network and host (device)
portions of an IP address.
The

unmasked
’
portion
leaves available the
information required to
identify the various devices
on the subnet.
If the pMDDL5824 is integrated into a network which has a defined
gateway, then, as with other hosts on the network, this gateway
’
s IP
address will be entered into this field. If there is a DHCP server on the
network, and the Connection Type (see previous page) is selected to
be DHCP, the DHCP server will populate this field with the appropriate
gateway address.

A simple way of looking at what the gateway value should be is: If a device has a packet of data is does
not know where to send, send it to the gateway. If necessary

Set the DNS (Domain Name Server) for use by devices on the LAN

Enable or disable IGMP snooping on the pMDDL5824.
IGMP
snooping
is the process of listening to Internet Group Management
Protocol traffic. This allows the pMDDL5824 to listen in on the
IGMP
conversations between network devices. The pMDDL5824 then
maintains a map of which links need which IP multicast streams.
