The default settings for the terminal connected to the management port are given in the table
below:

3 . 7. 3 Connecting to a PC COM port
A cable may be required if a PC is being used as the management terminal to connect to the
PC’s 9-pin COM port. A converter cable can be used to convert from the 25-way female D-
type connector on the rear panel of the DSU to a 9-way D-type connector on a PC. The
connections are given in the figure below.

Notes:
a) To inhibit the modem control function for reasons explained earlier in this section, loop
pins 4 and 6 at DSU end of cable.
b) If you are using Windows Hyperterm as your terminal emulator with VT100/220 emulation,
click on
View/Font
and activate
MS line draw
to achieve best picture quality.
