5 . 1. 1 Alarm extension
Pressing the highlighted letter X on the
MAIN
SET-UP
screen leads to a further menu.

The
SDH/SONET PORT
is the ATM UNI port on the WAN side of the ATM CBR DSU, and
the
E3 PORT
is that which is on the Customer side of the ATM CBR DSU, and is connected
to a PABX or similar CBR device.
5 . 1. 2 Clear alarm outputs
This item is displayed. If the DSU has detected a major or minor alarm condition the alarm
extension is activated. The alarm extension device may be muted by selecting
CLEAR
ALARM OUTPUTS
. When this option is selected the alarm extension status (prior to the
clear command) is shown below the menu.

Note:
If the alarm extension has been cancelled with the
CLEAR ALARM OUTPUTS
option,
the alarm is still indicated on the front panel indicators with the default settings and in the
performance statistics.
