10 E2 CBR PORT CONFIGURATION
10. 1 E2 Physical Interface
The signal is transmitted on 75 Ohm RG59 unbalanced coax terminated with BNC
connectors. HDB3 line coding is employed, per G.703 at 8
⋅
448 Mbit/s.
10. 2 E2 Physical Layer Framing
Framing is fixed to Unframed. This means that the CBR port traffic will be emulated across
the ATM network at full bandwidth, irrespective of framing format.
10. 3 E2 WAN Set-up
The E2 port parameters are set using the path
MAIN MENU/WAN
SET-UP
and then selecting the E2 interface from the two port identities displayed.

E2 physical layer framing is fixed as
UNFRAMED.
10 . 3. 2 Line Coding
LINE CODING
is fixed with a value of
HDB3
(High Density Binary 3).
10 . 3. 3 Timing
TIMING
is used to select the clocking mode of the E2 port. This is fixed as
THROUGH,
meaning that the ATM CBR DSU pair are transparent to clocking.
10 . 3. 4 AIS Detection
This option allows AIS detection to be
ENABLED
or
DISABLED
. The AIS detector should
always remain enabled under normal datacomms conditions, and should only be disabled
when there is a very low density of zeros in the traffic.
