5. Inspect the drain plug seal and replace it if damaged. Lubricate the seal on the drain plug with oil and install. Tighten to the
specified torque.

Filling the Crankcase with Oil
IMPORTANT: Do not try to fill the oil level to the top of the operating range (upper hole). The oil level is correct as long as it
appears in the operating range between the upper and lower hole.
1. Position the outboard in a level operating position.
2. Remove the oil fill cap and add the recommended oil to the midpoint of the oil level operating range. Adding approximately
1.0 liter (1.1 U.S. quart) of oil to an empty crankcase will bring the oil level to the midpoint of the oil level range. Reinstall
the oil fill cap.

3. With cooling water properly supplied, idle the engine for five minutes and check for leaks. Stop the engine and check the oil
level on the dipstick. Add oil if necessary.
Corrosion Control Anodes
Your outboard has four corrosion control anodes. An anode helps protect the outboard against galvanic corrosion by sacrificing
its metal to be slowly corroded instead of the outboard metals.
The anodes require periodic inspection, especially in saltwater, which will accelerate the erosion. To maintain this corrosion
protection, always replace an anode before it is completely eroded. Never paint or apply a protective coating to an anode, as
this will reduce the effectiveness of the anode.
