The yellow tyre pressure monitor warning lamp (pressure loss/malfunction) is
lit.
The tyre pressure monitor has detected a loss of pressure in at least one of the
tyres.

WARNING
Tyre pressures which are too low, harbour the following hazards:
R
The tyres may burst, especially as the load and vehicle speed increase.
R
The tyres may wear excessively and/or unevenly, which may greatly impair tyre
traction.
R
The handling as well as steering and braking characteristics may be severely
affected.
There is a risk of an accident.
X
Stop the vehicle without making any sudden steering or braking manoeuvres.
Pay attention to the traffic conditions while doing so.
X Secure the vehicle to prevent it from rolling away (

page 179).
X
Observe the display messages.
X
Check the tyres and, if necessary, change the wheel (
Y
page 335).
X Check the tyre pressure (
Y
page 331).
X If necessary, correct the tyre pressure.

flashes for approximately 1 minute and then remains lit.
The tyre pressure monitor is malfunctioning.

WARNING
The system is possibly unable to detect or register low tyre pressure.
There is a risk of an accident.
X Observe the display messages.

Visit a qualified specialist workshop.

The red power steering warning lamp is lit while the engine is running. An addi-
tional warning tone sounds.
The steering power assistance could be malfunctioning. You may need to steer
more forcefully.
