WARNING Risk of injury or fatal injury
due to damaged protective covering on
the seat belt buckle
If the protective covering does not com‐
pletely surround the seat belt buckle, the fol‐
lowing may occur:
R
the housing of the seat belt buckle may
be damaged
R
the function of the seat belt tensioner
may be impaired

Before starting a journey, make sure
that the protective covering is not dam‐
aged and completely surrounds the seat
belt buckle.
Fastening seat belts
If the seat belt is pulled quickly or sharply, the
seat belt retractor locks. The seat belt strap can‐
not be pulled out any further.

Always engage seat belt tongue

Vehicles with automatic front passenger air‐

NOTE Deployment of the seat belt ten‐
sioner and side impact airbag when the
front passenger seat is unoccupied
If the seat belt tongue is engaged in the seat
belt buckle of the unoccupied front
passenger seat, the seat belt tensioner and
the side impact airbag may also deploy in the
event of an accident along with other sys‐
tems.

Only one person should use each seat
belt at any one time.
Vehicles without automatic front passenger
