Battery

The vehicle is supplied with an Optima Redtop Battery, McLaren Customer Racing part number
13MA006RP. The battery is positioned in the front luggage compartment, held in place within the
battery box.
McLaren Customer Racing also recommends that a trickle charger is used to maintain the condition of
the vehicle battery when the vehicle is not in use.
NOTE: Whilst not pictured above, the battery cover must be fitted before the car is to run.
Alternator

The Valeo alternator is positioned on the lower right-hand side of the engine, and is driven using a
toothed pulley to the back of the oil pump.
Under normal conditions, the alternator should maintain the battery voltage above 13V.
NOTE: Be aware that the alternator does not charge until 45 seconds after start-up. For
sufficient charge to the battery the engine must be maintained above 2,500 rpm.
NOTE: It is not recommended to run the engine with a voltage below 12V, as this can lead to
engine misfire and poor adaptions.
