Turbocharger Related Processes
Wastegate Preload Check
McLaren Customer Racing recommends that customers regularly check the condition of the
wastegates and ensure the actuator preload is set correctly.

Care Point: A Mityvac MUST be used to carry out the wastegate service procedure. DO NOT attempt
the wastegate service if this is not available.
1.
Raise the car using either two-stage safety stands or a ramp
2.
Remove the diffuser and main floor panel
3.
Remove the rear LH airjack, upper heatshield from the LH turbocharger, and the lower
heatshield from the RH turbocharger. This will allow access to the wastegate and the
actuator
4.
Remove the vacuum line from its spigot on the LH and RH wastegate, as shown in figure 109
a.
NOTE: Take care to avoid damaging the vacuum line during removal
