Front Bumper
The front bumper design is a crucial component as it is the
first area of the car to interact with the airflow and dictates
how the air is controlled before passing over the rest of the
vehicle. On Sports Series the front bumper has a
pronounced centre point that forms the centre of pressure
piercing the air to reduce drag and forming a quadrant of
air.
At the bottom of the bumper are the carefully angled Aero
blades that help create a high pressure area in front of the
low temperature radiators. These Aero blades are extended
for 570S models, providing a further refinement.
Door Design
An advanced and intricate door design inspired by P1™
provides an ultra efficient intake to supplement the side
intakes that feed the HTR’s (high temperature radiators).
This is turn allows for smaller side intakes reducing drag.
AERODYNAMICS
The supporting tendon within the door is ergonomically
shaped and integrates the door button to provide an elegant
but efficient solution.
Flying Buttress
Sports Series features a unique floating C pillar allowing air to
travel underneath it. As will all aspects of McLaren products,
form follows function and this interesting design feature was
employed primarily to reduce lift on the roof. Air slipping
under the buttress levels out areas of low pressure created by
the convex roof and as a result negates any lift. In addition,
this feature also reduces drag and helps with powertrain heat
management.

Standard condition for the front splitter on 540C is a
unpainted finish and painted Dark Palladium on 570S
.
