Structure
01 Description
New carbon fibre MonoCell II with aluminium front and rear
structures.
02 Customer Benefits
As with every new McLaren vehicle carbon fibre creates a
hugely rigid yet light chassis. The new MonoCell II has a low
sill height and optimised door motion meaning getting in
and out of Sports Series is easy and reflects the likelihood of
frequent use in this segment.
MonoCell II weighs less than 75 Kg (165 lb) allowing for a
best in class chassis weight , lowest overall weight and the
best power-to-weight ratio (434PS / 428BHP per tonne,
lightest).
As part of this development revisions to the front crash
structure have also been made, fine tuning load paths into
the new carbon structure. Currently, Sports Series is the
only vehicle to offer Carbon Fibre technology within the
segment.
The front and rear aluminium structures have also been
revised, firstly to accommodate the new anti-roll bar
positions but also to reduce complexity and inevitably
weight.
