McAfee Utilities
• Explorer tab lets you specify settings that affect the Windows Explorer's
menu speed, shortcuts, history and other settings.
• Desktop tab lets you add, hide and rename desktop icons. You can change
a program's icon image and its properties.
• Run/Add/Remove tab lets you add, remove, edit, and set properties for
programs that automatically run when you start Windows
• Send To/New tab
allows you add, remove, edit, and set properties for the
commands that appear on the File > Send To menu in My Computer.
• Context menu tab
lets you customize the commands that appear in the
Windows Context menu.
• MS Office
(only if Microsoft Office 2000 is installed) enables you to add or
remove open file dialog shortcuts for easy access to your most
commonly-used files.
EZ Setup now also has a customizable Microsoft Office configuration tab
where you can customize features such as the Open/Save Dialog place bar in
MS Office 2000.
Click the Help button while working with any of the EZ Setup tabs to display
additional information and instructions on how to perform a particular task.
PGP
PGP is a security software application that enables you and your co-workers
to exchange or store information securely, so that no one else can read it. It is
based on a widely accepted encryption technology known as public key
cryptography in which two complementary keys—a key pair—are used to
maintain secure communications. To send someone a private email message,
you use a copy of that person’s public key to encrypt the information, which
only they can decipher by using their private key. Conversely, when someone
wants to send you encrypted mail, they use a copy of your public key to
encrypt the data, which only you can decipher by using a copy of your private
key.
PGP’s main features include:
• Email plugins. One of the most convenient ways to use PGP is through one
of the popular email applications supported by the PGP plug-ins. With
these applications, you can encrypt and sign as well as decrypt and verify
your messages while you are composing and reading your mail with a
simple click of a button.
