McAfee Utilities
You can choose to have one, two, or more gauges to be active at any one
time—with each gauge reporting on the status of your system. The more
advanced you are, or the more demanding your projects, the more gauges you
may want to keep active to monitor particular aspects of your computer and
applications.
By using WinGauge, and by customizing the gauges to your own specific
needs, you will be warned about potential problems in time to take the
necessary preventative steps.
WinGauge alerts you so that you can save your data, close programs, or take
other actions to prevent your system from slowing down, crashing, or
locking-up. As an added bonus, you can also drag application icons and
folders into WinGauge so that the program becomes your one-stop system
monitoring and application launch pad.
Working With Gauges
In WinGauge, you can set global gauge commands or set specific commands
for each gauge. You can also add, update, or remove gauges.
Refer to the online Help file for instructions on how to use any of the available
features of WinGauge.
Trash Guard
When you enable Trash Guard, all deleted files, even the ones you deleted in
DOS or in 16-bit applications, are moved to the Recycle Bin. Keeping Trash
Guard enabled ensures that you can recover files you've deleted later if you
discover that you need them.
Specifying Trash Guard Properties
Trash Guard’s Properties sheet lets you decide if the Trash Guard Properties
tab appears in the Recycle Bin’s Properties sheet dialog box. You can also
specify any files to exclude from delete protection.
To add files to exclude from delete protection, click the Add New button. Then
locate the files to exclude or the path to a folder or directory of files to exclude.
You can use standard wildcard characters to exclude all files that have the
same file extension or similar names. The wildcard characters you can use are:
• Asterisk ( * )–a multiple-character placeholder. For example if you enter
*.BAK
, all files that have the .BAK file extension would be excluded from
delete protection. Or if you enter
~*.*
, all files that start with a tilde ( ~ )
and have any file extension would be excluded from delete protection.
