10.6.2
Operating the maxium Beamer
After connecting the maxium Beamer to the maxium, all Beamer-supported currents are available
for use. This includes the following Argon Beamer currents, which are described in detail in section
7, “Current Types and Their Properties”:
•
Argon Cut
•
Argon Beam
•
Argon Endo
•
Pulsed Argon: slow repetition rate
•
Pulsed Argon: fast repetition rate
The maxium Beamer can be used with any of the instruments belonging to the MABS series (see
Martin accessories catalog, “Electrosurgical Instruments”).
The channel selector buttons (see section 4.3.2) can be used to select appropriate currents such
as "Argon Cut" or "Argon Beam".
Once an argon-supported current has been selected, an additional field for setting the gas flow rate
appears on the maxium’s display.
By pressing the channel selector button several times (as described in section 6, “Operating the
Unit”), you can move the red frame to the “flow rate” field displayed underneath the current’s name.
Thereafter, you can use the rotary switch to set a value between 0 and 12 l/min.
In addition, the "Argon Flow" menu item will be displayed in the Menu field. This gives you the al-
ternative option of selecting/adjusting and confirming the flow rate with the rotary switch.
To facilitate your work, you can of course create and store your own programs with defined set-
tings, just as with other maxium applications (for procedure, see section 6.4, “Calling up, Storing
and Deleting Programs").
