Use the piston ring pliers to engage the piston
rings in the relevant piston ring groove (TOP facing
upwards).
Checking piston ring axial clearance

Determine the piston ring clearance in each piston
ring groove at various points using a feeler gauge.
To do so, press the piston ring fully into the piston
ring groove at the point to be measured.
Replace the piston and piston rings if the clea-
rance determined is too large.
