• Th
e 1/2 division function (MODE switch 10) is not related
to the reference point synchronized with the A/B phase. Th
e
reference point output is determined by the A-phase cycle
during division that was set by MODE switches 6 to 9. As a
result, when the scale is used when 1/2 division is selected
(the MODE switch 10 is set to OFF), the reference point is not
synchronized with the A/B phase.

• If the reference point output signal width is used in 1/4-Z
mode when 1/2 division is selected (the MODE switch 10 is set
to OFF), the reference point signal may not be output in some
cases. Use Z mode when 1/2 division is selected (the MODE
switch 10 is set to OFF) and the resolution has been set as given
below.
Resolution when connected to the PL25 : 20 μm, 100 μm
Resolution when connected to the PL60 : 8 μm, 40 μm
For other resolutions, once the reference point has been set, the
reference point signals are always output at the same position.
3-4. Setting the reference point
With the MJ100/110, in order for the interpolator to output
reference point signals which are in synchronization with the
A/B quadrature signal output, it is necessary to set the correlation
between the reference point sensor which has been installed at
the desired position and the position of the scale. If the reference
point is used, fi rst install the scale and reference point sensor, and
then be absolutely sure to perform the following settings.
1. Move the scale in the direction opposite to that in which
the reference point was read and move the scale beyond the
reference point. Check that the ABS lamp is off at this time.
2.
Set MODE switch 3 to on. Th
is will result in reference point set
mode and all the POS. lamps will go off .
3. Move the scale beyond the reference point.
4.
One POS. lamps will light.
5. Set
MODE switches 1 and 2 according to the POS. lamp which
lit (see Table 2).
6. Set MODE switch 3 to OFF.
