Passenger Airbag Switch

A switch is located in the glovebox to

deactivate/activate the passenger front

airbag. The switch is accessible only

with the glovebox open.

- The airbag is activated and

all front facing passengers (chil-

dren and adults) can sit safely on

the passenger seat.

OFF

- The airbag is deactivated

and children in rearward facing

child seats can sit safely on the

passenger seat.

Deactivating Passenger Airbag

1. Pull the switch outward.

2. Turn it from ON to OFF

position.

The driver display shows a message

that the passenger airbag is deactivat-

ed.

Confirm the message by pressing the

central /confirm button on the right-

hand steering wheel keypad, see page

63 for further information.

WARNING:

A front facing passen-

ger (child or adult) must never sit

on the passenger seat if the pas-

senger airbag is deactivated.

The upper console also shows a mes-

sage and symbol informing that the

passenger airbag is deactivated.

NOTE:

If the passenger airbag

has been deactivated with the

vehicle in ignition position I or

lower, the messages will appear

approximately 6 seconds after the

ignition is put into position II.
