Provisioning

SDM-1 NEs
5.1 General
After having completed the physical installation of the
µ
SDM-1 as outlined in the
previous chapters of this manual, you must provision the network element using the
Lightscape Networks Element Manager (eEM).
This section of the manual outlines the provisioning sequence.
5.2 Installing the eEM and Connecting it to the
µµµµ
SDM-1
Before provisioning a network element, you should have the information regarding
the Gateway NE (GNE) and the required IP addresses already planned, and should
have eEM properly installed and connected to the NE via SLIP connection (using an
RS-232 cable).
Refer to the eEM User Manual for instructions on installing the eEM software and
connecting the eEM to the NE via Serial Line Interface Protocol (SLIP).
5.2.1 The NE Installation Window
The Installation window, shown in Figure
µ
SDM-1 NEs,
define NE attributes and make changes in the NE operating mode.
To access this window, select the
µ
SDM-1 NE you are installing from the NE list in
the eEM main window and select
Install
-
New Installation
from the main menu.

NOTE
:
If the Install-New Installation menu option is shaded,
verify that no Shelf Views are opened; close all open Shelf
Views in order to access this menu option.
