4.4.2 Rack Installation

SDM-1 units can be mounted in standard ETSI or 19” racks for CO applications.

Equipment must be ordered with the appropriate rack mounting option.

NOTE

Refer to Appendix E for instructions on preparing the

equipment room and the rack equipment for

SDM-1

multiplexers.

Rack Mounting Options

SDM-1 units can be rack mounted in one of two configurations:

Vertical mounting - four

SDM-1/RD or three

SDM-1E units can be

installed on a single vertical shelf; the shelf is mounted in the rack.

♦

Horizontal mounting - a single µSDM-1/RD/E multiplexer can be installed on
a single horizontal shelf; the shelf is mounted in the rack.

A typical rack mounted configuration, as shown in Figure

4-5, can include the
