The Sin(x)/x interpolation — a standard feature of
LeCroy oscilloscopes — powerfully processes
data acquisitions of a few sample points. It places
nine interpolated sample points between each
original data sample. This preserves the identity of
the original raw data, allowing differentiation of
raw from interpolated data points.
Because it must respect the Nyquist limit to avoid
aliasing, it can be used only on signals having
frequency components of less than half the
sampling rate — here, a simple sinewave.
