Jib telltales:
the jib has a small window with telltales to help you when trimming and maintaining your heading
when close-hauled. As a general rule, both port and starboard telltales should flutter together.
Tricing lines: the mainsail and jib are provided with tricing lines. They should be tightened as soon
as the leech of the sail starts to flog. Sufficient tension to stop the flogging.
Sail stowage:
the jib should be stowed rolled up, but not too tight. It is sometimes necessary to unroll it once back
in port and then roll it up again more loosely, to avoid possible creases and to let a little air
circulate.
The mainsail should be folded down onto the boom in regular, alternating folds.
Once the sail is folded and held in place by a few short lengths of rope, the lazy jacks can be
slackened off.
The jib and mainsail covers should be fitted after each voyage to avoid deterioration of the material
by UV light.
