3. ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS
3.1. Safety and operating instructions for the electrical system
WARNING
Always:
Check condition of battery (charge and electrolyte level) and charging system before
putting to sea.
Disconnect and remove battery for wintering.
Do not let battery voltage drop below 10·5 V during wintering.
Check operation of the navigational instruments.
Never:
Work on an electrical installation that is live.
Make any modification to an installation and the relevant diagrams, unless it is carried
out by an electrician qualified in marine electrics.
Change or modify the breaking capacity of overload protection devices.
Replace electrical apparatus or equipment with units exceeding the rated capacity
without uprating wiring and protection.
Leave the boat unattended when the electrical installation is powered, with the exception
when applicable of the automatic bilge pump and the fire or theft protection circuits.
If a fuse blows continually, a specialist must be consulted to determine the origin of the short-
circuit.
Location of circuit-breakers and isolator for lifting keel winch (on port bulkhead beneath
