BLUETOOTH PAIRING
3.1
Pair Laser to the Tablet PC (Pre-February, 2016)
1.
Turn on tablet PC

Once finished booting, plug in USB cable and wait until you hear a kerplunk sound indicating it has
connected.

Click Start (Windows logo) and type Devices and Printers. Click Enter

Click Add a device

Turn on the Laser by pressing the power button.

A green LED will light up on the side indicating it is on.

You will see a device appear that is first named “Other,” “Unknown,” but will quickly change to “LT55-
XL,” “Laser,” or “Disto #####.”

Click on that device and then click Next.
6.
Enter the device’s passcode of 0000 and click Next.

You might see an error saying “That passcode isn’t right. Try adding your device again.” If that
happens, click Close and try to add it a second time.
7.
Right click or click and hold on the newly added device and click Properties.
8.
Click the Hardware tab and look for the COM# for the laser and record it.
9.
Click Start (Windows logo) and type Device Manager. Click Enter.
10.
Click the triangle before Ports (COM & LPT)
11.
Look for USB Serial Port (COM#)

Take note of what COM Port # the encoder is connected through. In this example it is COM5
12.
Look for Standard Serial over Bluetooth link (COM#)
a.
Take note of what COM Port #’s the laser is connected through. In this example it is COM 3 and
COM4. We want to use the one that was listed above in step 8.
