4.4.1.3. Configure Fast
For the Fast storage policy, the Basic Configuration
Mode creates a single volume of four hard disk drives in
a striped format. The remaining hard disk drive is des-
ignated as a standalone volume using the BIG storage
policy. Note that the LaCie Biggest S2S Storage Appli-
ance is set to a Fast configuration by default.
To create a Fast volume
To open the Configuration Mode, select
Configure
Box
in the Edit menu or the corresponding button in
the Status window.
Select the
Fast
radio button from the Configuration
Mode frame.

3. A confirmation box appears. Because the Basic Con-
figuration Mode affects all hard disk drives, a con-
figuration change may result in total data loss. Click
Yes
to complete the configuration.

The volumes table below
the Storage Policy frame lists the volume label,
implemented storage policy and size.
4. Select
Save to Config File
from the File menu or
click the button in the toolbar to save the configura-
tion.
5. Click the
OK
button to build the configuration in
the Configuration Mode window. This configures the
drives using the Fast storage policy.
Within a minute, the Status window will reflect the
implemented Fast storage policy configuration.
6. Partition the configured volume to complete the im-
plementation. See 4.4.3.
