Testing for Excessive Wear
To test for excessive wear:
1.
Lock out and tag out the vehicle (see Locking out and Taging Out the Vehicle on page 10).
2.
With a pry bar, try to move the packer vertically and horizontally.
It should not move vertically by more than 3 ⁄ 16 of an inch, and horizontally by more than 1 ⁄ 8 of
an inch. If movement is greater than the values indicated above, check for excessive wear on both
packer sliding shoes and on the wear pads found under the side rails (see page 37).
Before Replacing Sliding Shoes
To do so:
1.
Start the engine and engage the hydraulic pump.
2.
With the joystick, extend the lifting arm to get better access to the hopper area.
3.
Push the yellow button on the packer control station to fully retract the packer.
4.
Turn off the hydraulic pump and the engine.
5.
Lock out and tag out the vehicle (see Locking out and Taging Out the Vehicle on page 10).
Danger!
Secure the area around the path of the lifting arm when performing maintenance or
repair.
Danger! Never enter the hopper while the packer is moving.
