Chapter 6
Compliance is calculated using following formula:
Volume (B)
– Volume (A)
Compliance = ------------------------------------
Pdet (B)
– Pdet (A)
Pmuo
Pmuo is the lowest detrusor pressure during voiding. When Flow markers are
present, then Pmuo will be the lowest detrusor pressure during voiding
between the first and the last Flow markers.
Closure pressure
The closure pressure is the detrusor pressure at the last detected flow
(Qura>0). When Flow markers are present, then the closure pressure will be
the detrusor pressure at the last (third) Flow marker.
Diuresis
The diuresis is the amount of urine that is produced by the patient's kidneys
during the investigation.
Diuresis = Volume lost through l Voided Residual urine
–
Initial bladder filling
– Infused volume – Extra infused volume.
= Voided residual urine
– Total bladder capacity
Flow delay time
Normally there is a time lag in the flow registration of 0.5
–1 second because it
takes some time for the urine to travel from the urethra to the flow transducer.
This time lag must be taken in account, when calculating results with
pressure/flow relationship, and when generating pressure/flow plots. It is
normally rather constant in the individual clinical setup and can be measured
once and for all.
The LABORIE analysis software offers an option to enter a flow delay time
(
Settings >
System settings > General Tab > Flow delay
). When the correct
time is entered here, the tracings are really simultaneous, and results will be
accurate.
This time lag can be measured by compressing the urethra completely during
voiding, recording when compression is done and when it is seen on the flow
tracing.
