4.24.1 Selecting the Emergency Activation COM Port
You can select any available COM port on the computer running SonarPro for the
emergency activation connection. The computer must also be connected as a
master or a slave. To select the COM port, click the
Trim Setup
tab in the
Control
Towfish Wing
dialog box. The
Trim Setup
tab shown in Figure 4-80 opens. Select
the COM port from the
Emergency Switch Port
drop-down list box, and then
restart the computer. Connect the interface board to the COM port and to a switch.
4.24.2 Initiating Emergency Activation
To initiate emergency activation of the wing, click
Activate EMERGENCY
on the
Control Wing
tab of the
Control Towfish Wing
dialog box or activate the switch
closure to the interface board. The emergency condition is indicated by a red
border around the wing graphic as shown in Figure 4-81, and the wing moves to its
horizontal, zero-degree position as shown in Figure 4-82. The interface board must
be connected to the selected COM port for the emergency activation to function.

To terminate the emergency, open the switch closure to the interface board or click
Clear Emergency
.
4.24.3 Setting the Wing Angle
The wing angle is set from the
Control Wing
tab of the
Control Towfish Wing
dialog box. To set the angle of the wing, first choose the angle by dragging the
slider up or down to position it at the desired angle, from 0 to 17 degrees. The

NOTE
You must terminate the emergency using the same device that was
used to initiate it, the switch or the
Clear Emergency
button.
