Descriptions of Parameters
MIDI Receive Mode Parameters
5-33
FXA/B Select and FXA/B
These parameters replace FXA Select and the FX-A parameters when the current effect is one of
the double-block KB3 effects. In this case, the FXA/B Select parameter determines the effect for
both effect blocks (in fact, you can’t change effects from the FXB Select menu in this case). Use
the
Right
cursor button to scroll through the FXAB parameters. Many of the FXAB parameters
control the chorus and vibrato associated with the effect, although you can’t necessarily change
the values of these parameters. See
KB3 Effects
on page 4-28
Effect ID and Name
The display doesn’t show you the names of these parameters, as it does with most other
parameters. Instead, you’ll see
FXA|Select
in the top line (or
FXB
or
FXAB
, depending on the
current effect block). This parameter appears when you press Enter after selecting the FXA or
FXB Select menu. Press the
Right
cursor button to scroll through the parameters for the current
effect.
Note
: There are two cases in which you’ll see
View
in the top line of the display, instead of
Select
. The first occurs when you’re in MIDI Receive mode, and the FX Chg Mode parameter
(in the Global menu) has a value of
Auto
(which is the default). In this case, if you go into the
FXA Select or FXB Select menu, you’ll find that you can’t change the current effect. That’s
because MIDI Receive mode isn’t really an editor—that is, you can’t make permanent changes to
programs or setups, including the effects they use.
The other case occurs when the current MIDI channel isn’t the same as the effects channel
(which is determined by the FX Channel parameter in the Global menu). In this case, if you go
into the FXA Select or FXB Select menu from Internal Voices mode or KB3 mode, you’ll be able
to view the current effect, but not to change it.
MIDI Receive Mode Parameters
MIDI Receive mode is designed to make it easy to configure your PC2R as a MIDI
slave—especially when you’re using it as a multi-timbral playback module for a sequencer.
There’s a set of parameters for defining how the PC2R responds to incoming MIDI information.
Each channel has an independently-programmable set of the parameters described below. The
settings for these parameters affect the PC2R’s performance modes, as well as how the PC2R
transmits MIDI information.
When you’re in MIDI Receive mode, the settings for the MIDI Receive-mode parameters
normally override any corresponding parameters in the programs themselves. For example, if
you’ve set the effects routing for Channel 1 to FX-A, then any program that plays on Channel 1
will be routed to FX-A, even if the program’s routing is different.
There’s one exception to this rule. If the value of the FX Channel parameter isn’t
Current
, but
instead specifies a single channel, then selecting a program on that channel sets the effects
routing and wet/dry mix for that channel according to the settings for the program you
selected.
When you’re in MIDI Receive mode, you can use the cursor buttons as a short cut for navigating
through the MIDI channels. Press the cursor buttons at the same time, and you’ll jump to the
corresponding parameter for the next-highest MIDI channel. For example, if you’re looking at
the Vol and Pan parameters for Channel 1, pressing the cursor buttons together jumps to the Vol
and Pan parameters for Channel 2.
