When glass tubes are used, be sure to use the cushion to avoid damage.
Insert the cushion  into the tube rack so that  its concave side faces 
upward. 
If a glass tube is damaged, replace the cushion.
If broken pieces  of the glass tube are contained  in  the cushion,  the 
glass tube will be broken again.
