Preparing the Laser System
WARNING
Dangerous laser radiation!
•
Secure the laser area against access by unauthorized persons. Secure all accesses to the
laser area with laser warning labels and warning lamp(s).
•
Cover surfaces that can reflect the laser beam with suitable materials.
•
Supply protective goggles for all persons in the laser area (including the patient).
WARNING
Danger of fire!
•
Avoid use of flammable anesthetics or oxidizing gases such as nitrogen oxide (N2O) and
oxygen.
•
Materials saturated with oxygen, such as cotton, can catch fire caused at the high
temperatures that occur during the intentional use of the laser unit.
•
Allow sufficient time for solvents of adhesives and flammable solutions that are used for
cleaning and disinfection purposes to evaporate before the laser unit is used.
•
Intestinal gases are also flammable.
