Chapter 7 - Regulator & Exhaust System Overhaul
9) Note that the two longest bolts secure the nuts (and
pod) just below the face port.
10) Note that the bottom two nuts attach on the ex
-
terior of the pod, while the remaining nuts attach on
the interior of the pod.
Remove the lock nuts.
11) Separate the pod/regulator assembly from the
helmet assembly.
Separate the pod./regulator assembly from the helmet shell.
12) Remove the gasket for cleaning or replacement.
Remove the gasket for cleaning or replacement. Note the
ridge on the gasket. This ridge is designed help maintain the
proper position of the gasket in the groove in the pod.
13) The locknuts may be reused, once. Be sure to
replace them upon the next pod gasket inspection.
Failure to replace with the second maintenance could
result in an improper seal of the pod, or loosening of
the fasteners.
7.9.2 Removal of Water Dump Components
Refer to "Blowapart of KM 37SS regulator with pod
and oral/nasal mask." on page 94.
1) Remove locking clip
2) Remove valve body & valve
3) Remove O-ring
4) Separate valve body & valve Make note of how
those 2 parts fit together. The valve must be rein
-
stalled into the valve body the same way to seal
properly.
7.9.3 Removal of Regulator Alone
In most circumstances, it is not essential to remove
the pod if you need to service the regulator. To remove
the regulator by itself, use the following procedure.
1) Remove the bent tube assembly. See the section
in this chapter for the proper procedure.
2) Cut the tie wrap that holds the regulator on the
Quad-Valve extension of the pod.
