4. Inspection and Maintenance
4.1 Inspection
The backwater valve should be che-
cked on a monthly basis by the owner
or a representative of the owner. The
manual closure lever should be shut,
locked and re-opened multiple times.
Please make sure
that after the in-
spection that manual closure lever is
in the
Open
position.
4.2 Maintenance (Ill. 9-12)
Maintenance information:
-
Device may not come into contact with
mineral or partially mineral lubricants
(such as WD-40).
Mineral lubricants can compromise
the functionality of the product. Use
fully synthetic lubricants only!

No warranty will be granted in the
event of insufficient maintenance!
The backwater needs to be checked
every six months at a minimum by a
qualified and licensed service techni-
cian. During the inspection no waste-
water should pass through the back-
water valve.
The following jobs must be performed:

Remove dirt and deposits
②
The condition of gaskets / seals
and the surfaces they come in con-
tact with should be inspected – if
required the gasket / seal should
be replaced (see illustrations 9 - 11)

Check for proper movement of the
two flaps as well as the manual clo-
sure lever – lubricate if necessary
④
Check to make sure the system is
water tight and in proper operating
condition by performing the functi-
on / sealing test (see Chapter 4.3)

Optical sensor should be cleaned
with a soft cloth and checked to
make sure it is functioning proper-
ly. (see section 4.4)

Close the motorized backwater
flap by pressing flap close but-
ton on the control unit. Close the
manual closure level be closing
and locking the manual closure
lever.

Remove flaps and flap housings

Remove all debris and clean flaps
and housings

Inspect and check all rubber gas-
kets

Lubricate rubber gaskets of
housings as well as the plastic
surfaces where the closure le-
vels contact the flaps (plastic

Replace both housing in their
proper positions

Replace cover as described in
4.2.2 (see page 13)

Conduct an operation test as
described in section 4.3
