Check also, if the devices are damaged by extraneous causes. If
this is the case, do not take the devices into operation.
4. Initial operation
The light box
⑤
can be operated with the combined mains/charger
adapter
⑨
or with the built-in Li-ion battery.
Push the mode switch
④
to the "USB" position for mains operation
or to "BATTERY" for battery operation (fig. C). In the latter case the
standby indicator
③
might light up red.
Place the light box
⑤
on a flat and dry surface.
Now connect the mains/charging adapter
⑨
to the light box, no
matter if you have selected mains or battery operation, because the
battery is to be charged prior to the initial operation. Please proceed
as follows:
Check that the mains voltage corresponds to the operating voltage
given on the mains/charger adapter
⑨
.
Connect the mains/charging adapter
⑨
to the light box
⑤
using
the USB cable
⑩
(fig. D). Pay attention to the orientation of the re-
spective plug, before you insert it into the USB and micro-USB so-
cket. Misalignment may lead to damage of the plug or the socket.
Use the USB cable only when uncoiled.
Now connect the mains/charging adapter
⑨
to the mains.
If mains operation ("USB") is selected, the standby indicator
③
will
light up red.
If battery operation ("BATTERY") is selected, the standby indicator
③
will light up orange and the battery is charged. When charging
is completed, the standby indicator
③
will light up red and the USB
cable
⑩
can be disconnected from the light box
⑤
. Depending on
the state of charge of the battery, charging may last up to 6 hours.
Nevertheless you may use the light box during battery charging.
However it is recommended not to operate the light box during char-
ging for longer battery life.
Note: The light box
⑤
can also be operated or charged via the in-
cluded USB cable
⑩
from any other live USB terminal with 5 V out-
put voltage (e.g. a computer, notebook or a power bank).
The light can be switched on and changed in brightness by using
the touch switch
①
.
Switching on: Keep your finger on the touch switch
①
until the de-
sired or maximum brightness is reached.
Switching off: A short touch of the switch
①
will cause the bright-
ness to go down until the light is switched off.
Adjusting brightness: If the light is switched on, keep your finger on
the touch switch
①
until the desired brightness is reached. The next
time you touch the switch
①
the brightness will change into the op-
posite direction.
If you switch off the light later by a short touch of the switch
①
, anot-
her short touch will switch on the light with the previously selected
brightness.
When operated from the mains ("USB"), the light box is suitable for
unlimited continuous operation.
If there is a considerable decline of brightness with battery operation
("BATTERY"), the battery has to be recharged (see above).
Complete switch-off: If you do not use the light box for a certain time
(temporarily), move the mode switch
④
to the "USB" position and
disconnect the light box from the mains/charging adapter
⑨
if ap-
plicable. The standby indicator
③
goes off and a previously saved
brightness level will be deleted. Now the light box is completely swit-
ched off.
5. Maintenance and care
To avoid deep discharge of the battery, the light box must not be
stored in an uncharged condition. If you do not use the light box for
