Desiccant regeneration phase
As soon as the machine switches on, the timer modules starts at start period T1. The compressor
delivers dried air to the receiver until the expiry of time period T1.
At the end of period T1, the desiccant is regenerated for a period of 15 seconds:
Warm compressed air passes through the desiccant and removes the absorbed moisture. No air is
delivered to the air receiver during the T2 regeneration period.
After the T2 regeneration period has ended, the timer module automatically switches to operating
phase T3 and compressed air is once more delivered to the air receiver.
At the end of the operating phase T3, another regeneration phase T2 starts.
This alternating between T3 operating time and T2 regeneration period repeats until the air receiv‐
er reaches cut-out pressure and the compressor switches off.
Using the full delivery capacity of the compressor to regenerate the desiccant allows a short regen‐
eration time and therefore high machine availability (depending on the machine type up to
80-90 %).
4.2 Operating points and control modes
4.2.1 Machine operating points
READY
■ The compressor motor has stopped.
■ The unloading valve is open.
■ The check valve upstream of the cooler prevents the compressed air from flowing back into the
compressor chamber.
The machine starts as soon as network pressure is lower than the cut-out pressure.
LOAD
The compressor motor runs under load:
■ The unloading valve is closed.
■ The compressor block delivers compressed air to the compressed air network.
IDLE
The compressor motor runs unloaded with low power consumption:
■ The unloading valve is open.
■ The desiccant is regenerated under low pressure.
4.2.2 Control modes
The pressure switch setting is tuned to the function of the timer module.
