Checking and Adjustment
Wheel Alignment
The steering geometry is only adjustable for toe i.e.
alignment.
For improved control and safety, the steering geometry
should be correctly adjusted. This will also help reduce tyre
wear.
!M
WARNING
A raised and badly supported machine can fall on you.
Position the machine on a firm, level surface before
raising one end. Ensure the other end is securely
chocked. Do not rely solely on the machine hydraulics
or jacks to support the machine when working under
it.
Disconnect the battery, to prevent the engine being
started while you are beneath the machine.
GEN-1-1
1
With the wheels in the straight-ahead position, and
the tyres correctly inflated, use a straight-edge to
check alignment against the rear wheel sets.
2
If adjustment is required:
a
Loosen locknuts
. Use grips to turn the tie-rods
until the alignment is correct.
Note: Be sure that both front wheels are equally adjusted.
Count the number of tie-rod exposed threads.
b
Tighten the locknuts to the correct torque 55 - 60
Nm (41 - 44 lbf ft).
Note: Ensure that the rubber gaiters have not become
twisted.
