1.1 Outline
1.1.1 Coverage area of Inmarsat 5 th generation
satellite
Inmarsat Global Xpress system (abbreviated as Inmarsat GX system) covers the earth’s surface
except at the high latitude areas near the North Pole and the South Pole.
Inmarsat GX terminals are available for any type of vehicle or ship, and are capable of communicating
day and night.
The Inmarsat GX systems coverage map displays the area of three satellite regions
• I5-F1 Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia
• I5-F2 The Americas and the Atlantic Ocean Region
• I5-F3 The Pacific Ocean Region
• I5-F4 Asia
One Inmarsat 5
th
generation satellite (geosynchronous satellite) is deployed in each ocean region. And
each ocean region has an overlapped area with the neighboring regions. When JUE-60GX is in an
overlapped area, the optimum satellite is selected automatically for communication.
Note
A geosynchronous satellite might be added or deployed to other position in the future.
