ENTR (Enter) — black button on the DMI, it accepts any number keyed
into the display. Page 4-4.
Erse (Erase) — red button on the RAC-200, it is used to clear all memory
locations in the DMI. Page 4-7.
LED — stands for light emitting diode, the display used with the JAMAR
DMI. Page A-3.
Modular Distance Sensor (MDS) – a device which, when installed, con-
ditions pulses from a vehicle’s speed sensor to the DMI. Page 2-3.
nonvolatile memory — the permanent memory of the DMI, it is where the
data and calibration number are stored. It will remain here for up to forty
years unless changed. Page A-3.
Prnt (Print) — black key on the RAC-200, it is used to print data. Page 4-
7.
pulses — signals generated by a vehicle which, when conditioned through
a sensor, are read by the DMI to calculate distance traveled. Page 1-3.
pulse rate — the frequency at which pulses are sent to the DMI. They can
vary from 4,000 to more than 100,000 per mile. Page 1-3.
P-Dist (Pre-Distance) — yellow button on the DMI, it allows you to enter
a known distance into the DMI. Page 4-3.
RAC — Road Analysis Computer. Brand name for JAMAR’s distance
measuring instruments.
RS-232 Serial output — a feature of the RAC-200, it allows collected data
to be dumped directly into a computer or printer. Page 4-12.
Sensor Error Detection (SED) — a feature of JAMAR’s DMIs, it alerts the
user to a sensor malfunction. Page 5-2.
Stor (Store) — green button on the RAC-200, it is used for the memory
