computer or other device that can accommodate low voltage, low current
signals. Should you wish to control a +12VDC high current device, you will
need our optional DPO Amplifier.
To activate a DPO signal with tone:
Step 1 Select the desired unit of measurement using the UNIT key.
Step 2 Press the DPO key and [Po ] will be displayed.
Step 3 Key in the distance interval desired (the distance at which you
want the distance pulse to be output, such as .001 miles, 10 feet,
etc.) then press ENTER. [od 0] or a previously used output
duration will be displayed.
Step 4 Key in the desired signal duration from 10 milliseconds (key
in 1) to 2.55 seconds (key in 255) and press ENTER. Keep in
mind that if you use a long output duration, your signals will
run together at high speeds. A 10 millisecond pulse duration is
usually adequate for sending pulses to a laptop computer and
will not create a problem at normal highway speeds.
If you are using DPO capability for a long period of time, the tone heard
with each output pulse can become somewhat unnerving. To activate the
DPO signal without tone:
Step 1 Select the desired unit of measurement.
Step 2 Press the DPO key.
Step 3 Key in the desired Distance Interval, press ENTER.
Step 4 Key in the desired signal output duration, then press the SUB
key. The DPO signal will now operate without any tone.
NOTE: When the DMI is turned off, the DPO Distance Interval resets to
"0" thereby deactivating the output. The signal output duration previously
used will remain in memory until changed.
CAUTION: The DPO signal can be used to control potentially hazard-
ous equipment. When activated, the DPO could cycle this equipment
at any time. If you are working with this type of equipment, TURN OFF
the DMI which will deactivate the DPO signal.
