b. Apply thin coat of oil to the O-ring of the new oil filter
cartridge ahead of time. Then install the filter. Screw in
the filter by hand until the rubber packing comes into
contact with the sealing surface, and then screw in it
by a 2/3 turn with the filter spanner.

21. REPLACEMENT OF CHAIN CASE OIL
IMPORTANT: The chain case oil should be replaced
after the initial 50 hours of operation and
then after every 200 hours of operation.
The chain case oil drain is located lower of left and
right outside chain case.
(1) Chain case filler (3) Oil level plug
(2) Drain plug
a. Place a tray under the drain plug.
b. Remove the drain plug and let the oil drain out.
c. Reinstall the drain plug and tighten it securely.
d. Put in the new oil from chain case filler located upper
side of chain case.
Chain case oil capacity 1.1 litres (0.24 imp, gal.)
Oil: Gear oil SAE80
22. WASHING AND REPLACEMENT OF SUCTION
FILTER
IMPORTANT: • The suction oil filter should be cleaned
after the initial 50 hours of operation and
then after every 200 hours of operation.
It should also cleaned every time the
transmission oil is replaced.
• It is recommended to ask your dealer
to replace the suction filter. But when
there is no alternative but to replace the
filter by yourself, observe the following
instructions.
The suction oil filter is located in the bottom of the left-
hand side of the chassis.

a. Remove the drain plug and let the transmission oil
drain out. (Refer to page 55)
b. Draw the suction filter out of the case.
c. Wash the suction filter in fresh cleansing oil.
d. Install the cleaned suction filter into the filter case, tak-
ing care not to deform the O-ring.
IMPORTANT: If a suction filter is found damaged dur-
ing washing, it should be replaced with a
new one.
23. INSPECTION AND CLEANING OF AIR-INTAKE
OPENINGS
IMPORTANT: • Air- Intake openings clogged with dust
or dirt causes overheating of the engine
due to deteriorated cooling efficiency of
the radiator. The radiator and radiator
screen should be checked for clogging
everyday before operation.
• When mowing dead grass or operating
under extremely dusty conditions, check
the air-in-take openings several times a
day to avoid clogging.
a. The screens of the air-intake openings are located un-
der the steering wheel.
Dust them by using a piece of cloth or the like.
