Laser Forward Voltage Measurement Calibration
This procedure is for calibrating the laser forward voltage (LDV) measurement
circuits. The internal calibration procedure sets the current to two values; you
must enter the resulting forward voltage at both of these points.
1
With the output off, connect a 1
Ω
load resistor to the LASER output terminals (Laser
Anode, pin 9, and Laser Cathode, pin 5).
2
Connect a voltmeter with at least 15V range and accuracy of ±0.01 V across the load
resistor.
3
Press
MAIN
to enter the LDV calibration mode.
3a
Press the
Sys. Config
soft key, then the
Cal.
soft key.
3b
Press
Cal LAS
.
3c
Press the
LDI Cal
softkey. The LDV calibration screen appears.
4
Press the
Start
softkey. The internal calibration procedure turns on the output and drives
the LD current to approximately 25% of full range. Allow the current to settle for at least 10
seconds.
5
Measure the voltage across the load resistor and enter the value in Volts (V) into the
VReal field and press
ENTER.
Do not enter more than seven characters, including the decimal point. The internal
calibration procedure then drives the LD current to approximately 75% of full range. Allow
the current to settle for at least 10 seconds.
6
Measure the actual voltage across the load resistor, enter that value (in Volts) into the
highlighted "VReal" adjust field on the screen, and press
ENTER.
After you have entered the second value, the internal calibration procedure calibrates the
laser forward voltage measurement circuit. The screen then displays a message
indicating that the calibration has finished.
