ICH6 Overview
The Intel® ICH6 southbridge chipset is connected to the Intel® 915GV northbridge GMCH
through the chip-to-chip Direct Media Interface (DMI). Some of the features of the Intel®
ICH6 are listed below.

ICH6 Audio Codec ’97 Controller
The Audio Codec ’97 (AC’97) controller integrated into the ICH6 complies with AC’97
Component Specification, Version 2.3. The AC’97 controller is connected to the on-board
audio connector. The audio connector is connected to an optional 5.1 channel or 7.1
