'SELECT' Button
The printer has some basic functions that allow operation without an HMI connected. These
functions are accessed using
the “SELECT” button
and
are divided in two modes “
Message
selection” and “USB command selection”
(firmware update, backup etc.)
USB Command selection: synchronize/replace/backup/restore/firmware update
Using this option, you can select different commands to execute such as restore factory defaults,
backup, firmware upgrade etc. Commands are executed by using a USB memory stick that is
inserted into the print head. Please see the following:
1.
Prepare a USB stick in to properly operate with the TIJ printer:
a.
Formatted to FAT32.
b.
The following folders must be created on the root of the USB Drive:
i.
“messages”:
contains the message files.
ii.
“fonts”:
contains the font files.
iii.
“images”:
contains the images/logos to be used to create messages.
2.
Insert the USB stick into the print head USB port and press and hold the 'SELECT' button
for more 5 seconds. Once released
, “SEL” led will blink and you will
now be able to select
the desired command.
3.
Press the
“SELECT” button N times quickly (< 1s) to
select the USB Command you want
to execute. Commands are as follow:

COMMAND_PREPARE_USB
: Creates the files “messages”, “fonts” and “images”
on the USB drive.

COMMAND_SYNC:
Synchronizes the files within the folders
“messages”, “fonts”
and “images”
that are present on the USB drive. If they are not already present
on the USB drive, they will not be created.

COMMAND_REPLACE:
Replaces the internal memory content of the printer
(including the files within the folders
“messages”, “fonts” and “images”
) with the
content of the files from the USB stick. It only replaces the internal content with
the content existing in the folders on the USB stick. If the USB folders are empty,
this command will delete the content of the same folders in printer.

COMMAND_BACKUP_PARAMS:
Performs a backup of printer’s parameters
and
log files to the USB device in a folder
named “Settings”.

COMMAND_RESTORE_PARAMS:
Restores the parameters saved previously in the
USB. See command 4 above.

COMMAND_DOWNLOAD_FIRMWARE:
Trigger the firmware update process (for
the TIJ printer and for the HMI).

COMMAND_RESTORE_DEFAULTS:
Restores the TIJ printer to its factory default
settings: network parameters, print parameters, etc.

After that, the 'SELECT' LED will confirm the command number that has been selected
by flashing the same number of times as the code number pressed. It then pauses blank
and then repeats the number selected to allow for confirmation of the correct number.
5.
To confirm, press the
“SELECT”
button for 5 seconds.
