K: FxB Protocol
FxB
TM
protocol has greatly improved the reliability of 1-Wire® slave-based networks. The
FxB
TM
protocol has 100 times the noise immunity of 1-Wire® and 20 times the parasitic power
available to the slave.
A network must consist entirely of FxB
TM
slaves. However, each 1-Wire® slave can be used
with the addition of the FxB
TM
translator. The FxB
TM
translator chip takes the FxB
TM
waveforms
from the main communications bus and translates them into compatible 1-Wire® waveforms.
The 1-Wire® bus behind the translator can be a maximum of 4 inches long. Translators are
available in either chip level (for inclusion in new packages) or packaged (for retrofitting
existing slaves).
The LINK
TM
devices automatically recognize a bus based upon FxB
TM
protocol after the first
reset is issued.
FxB
TM
is licensed from Alicit Engineering (Chris Fox) by iButtonLink. Alicit currently has a
patent pending on the FxB
TM
protocol.
