Procedure
Perform the following steps to verify Ethernet cable connections.
1.
Use either Figure 33 on page 56 or Figure 34 on page 57 and Table 24 on page
57 to verify the cable connections made in manufacturing.
Notes:
v
Depending upon the model of the TSSC network switch being used, the port
layout might differ from what is shown in Figure 33 on page 56 or Figure 34
on page 57. If so, ensure that the cable connections are according to the port
number assignments specified in Table 24 on page 57, regardless of the
position of the ports on the TSSC or the switch. Refer to
IBM System Storage
TS3000 System Console (TSSC) Maintenance Information
for detailed port
information.
v
Cat 5e or higher cable is required for all Ethernet connections.
v
Be sure to route all cables through the cable management arms and to secure
the cables with straps.
v
Connection of the replication network cables is required only if the customer
is enabling the data replication feature.
2.
If the customer requests, make the connection from the TSSC to the customer
specified device as shown.
3.
Perform one of the following:
v
If the installation is OpenStorage with Feature Code 3456 installed, go to
“Customer network connections for OpenStorage installations with FC 3456
installed.”
v
If the installation is either VTL or OpenStorage with Feature Code 3457
installed, go to “Fibre Channel connections” on page 60.

About this task
Note:
Figure 35 on page 59 and Table 25 on page 59 refer only to OpenStorage
configurations with Feature Code 3456 installed. This feature code includes two
quad-port 1-Gb Ethernet adapters in server slots 3 and 4.
For customer host connections in OpenStorage configurations with Feature Code
3457, which installs two dual-port 10-Gb Ethernet adapters in slots 3 and 4, see
“Fibre Channel connections in a clustered OpenStorage configuration” on page 64.
