Step 2. Starting the System
2.1
Set the system unit power switch to the Off position if it is not already off.

If your system administrator gave permission (in Step 1), connect your network
cables.

Turn the key mode switch to the Secure position.
2.4
Turn on all attached devices, such as terminals, tape drives, monitors, and external
disk drives.

Set the system unit power switch to the On position.
2.6
Wait for
200
to appear in the three-digit display and then continue with substep 2.7.
2.7
Turn the key mode switch to the Service position.
2.8
Press the yellow Reset button. What happens next depends on how your system is
configured. Wait a minute to see which of the following occurs:
•
If the Select Language menu displays, go to substep 2.9.
•
If the Main Menu displays, go to Step 3, “Setting Up Network Configuration.”
•
If the screen remains blank and the number

displays in the three-digit
display and you are using an ASCII (async) terminal, press one of the number
keys on your keyboard and continue with Step 3, “Setting Up Network
Configuration.”

Enter the number corresponding to the language you want to use in these menus.
The screen will change to display the language you selected.
To return to the Main Menu, enter
