IBM xSeries 130: User’s Reference
Management tools
You can use Terminal Services or the Microsoft Server Appliance Kit to manage your
appliance server.
Web-based Terminal Services
You can use Terminal Services to connect to your appliance server. To start Terminal
Services from UM Services, do the following:
1.
Click the
Terminal Services
tab.
2.
Select a size, other than full screen, for the appliance desktop to appear in, and
then click
Connect
to start the Terminal Services Client session on the appliance.
A user login window opens.
3.
Log in to the appliance. In the
Username
field, type
Administrator
In the
password
field, type
password
and then click
OK
to log in. After you log in, you can begin using Terminal
Services Client to configure and manage your appliance server.
Note:
To ensure system security, change the administrator password from
password
. After you do, or if you create another user in the Administrator
group in the future, use your new user name and password instead of the
default user name and password combination.
4.
Copy the Web content from the system where it is stored to the Web site directory
on the appliance (d:\websites\mywebsite by default).
5.
Set up the Web site properties that you want using the Server Appliance Kit or
Internet Information Services. Restart the Web site to begin serving the content.
Microsoft Server Appliance Kit
The Microsoft Server Appliance Kit enables remote management of your appliance
server through a Web browser. Click the Server Appliance Kit link for a secure
connection, or:

For a secure connection, type https://hostname:8098
•
For a non-secure connection, type http://hostname:8099
SNMP
This tool is used to enable SNMP trap destinations. It is available only
if the SNMP services is enabled.
Telnet Server
You can use this feature to enable TELNET access to the appliance.
Users and Groups
You can use this feature to manage Windows user accounts and user
groups.
xSeries 130
Security
You can use this feature to audit the appliance server security for the
xSeries 130.
