Maintaining the Spark Plugs
When
Clean the spark plugs and check the electrode gaps every 200 hours of operation
(monthly).
Requirement
Engine is stopped and cool to the touch
Removing and
cleaning the
spark plug
There are three spark plugs
(a)
located on top of the engine.
Follow the procedure below to remove and clean each spark plug.
1. Disconnect the spark plug cap from the spark plug.
2. Unscrew and remove the spark plug.
3. If the electrode is covered with carbon deposits, use a wire brush or spark plug
cleaner to remove the carbon.
NOTICE:
If the spark plug is cracked or damaged, replace it. See
Technical Data
.

4. The electrode gap
(b)
should measure between 0.6 to 0.7 mm (0.024 to 0.028
in.). Adjust the gap if necessary.
Re-installing
the spark plug
5. Reinstall the spark plug and tighten it securely.
NOTICE:
A loose spark plug can become very hot and may cause engine damage.
Make sure that the spark plug is properly seated and tightened.
6. Reconnect the spark plug cap.
WARNING
Burn hazard. Engine and exhaust pipe become extremely hot during operation.
? Stop the engine and allow the machine to cool before cleaning and adjusting the
spark plugs.
