Upgrade Utility User Instructions – Non-Internet Method
In the event of an Internet connection not being available at the time of the upgrade the following ‘back door’ is
provided.
1. Download the Dopplex Ability Upgrade Utility from the Internet and install it on the computer to be used.
Cardiff.service@huntleigh-diagnostics.co.uk will send a link for this, also you can request the latest
binary upgrade file from them at the same time.
2. Contact the Huntleigh Service Department on the above link, providing the serial number of the unit(s)
for upgrade. Corresponding PIN numbers for each unit will be provided to you, and our device history
records will be updated.
3. Connect the dopplex Ability to the computer, and press the on/off button. The following screen should
be displayed:
4. Start the dopplex Ability Upgrade Utility by clicking on the desktop icon.
5. Click the ‘Read SN’ button, and make a note of the COM number shown on the status window during
this process.
6. When the serial number has been retrieved, press and hold the ‘ALT’ key, and then press the ‘Z’ key.
7. Enter the PIN code given for the unit and select the COM port noted earlier.
8. Click on the ‘browse ’ button and select the binary file sent by the Service Department.
9. Turn the Ability unit off.
10. Press and hold the two outer softkey buttons simultaneously and turn the unit back on. The message
‘ Bootloader, download from PC’ should be displayed on the Ability LCD.
11. Click on the ‘upgrade’ button on the Ability Upgrade Utility. An upgrade progress bar will be displayed
on the Ability LCD.
12. When the upgrade is complete, the Ability unit will re-start.
The dopplex Ability is now ready for use.
