12.2 Hardware Monitor Test
The hardware monitor is an independent timer that checks the ABPI test duration in normal use and safely
deflates all cuffs in the event of the test exceeding a predetermined limit. Its function can be verified as follows:
Procedure:
1. Connect the unit to a mains supply and switch on.
2. Navigate to the service menu and enter the PIN code 5315
3. Scroll down to Hardware Monitor and press accept (tick)
4. A four minute count-down timer will then be displayed. When the four minute period has elapsed, the
timer period will be displayed, along with the time-to-reset count-down timer. When this timer reaches
zero, the unit will be re-set, as indicated by the display initially clearing, followed by display of the ‘home’
screen.
5. The Pass requirements for this test are:

The initial count-down time must be 4 minutes ± 5%

The unit must reset

13 Software Upgrade
During the life of the Ability product software upgrades are envisaged that will enhance the performance of this
product. To make this process easy to carry out in the field we have developed an Upgrade Utility. This software
program can be downloaded from the Internet, please contact the Service Department for the link.

To determine the installed software version, switch the unit on, and view the first screen displayed (“dopplex
ABIlity Duo Sense Technology”). The software version is displayed at the lower right hand side of this screen.
13.1
Upgrade Utility User Instructions – Internet Method

To install the latest software on the Ability unit you will need:
1. Personal Computer running Windows 7 (32 or 64 bit), Vista or XP Professional operating systems.
2. Internet connection (internet browser must not be running).
3. Interface cable
USB V1.1 type A to USB mini 5 pin type B.
4. Access to support from your local IT Department, if required.
NOTE: If an internet connection is not available, an alternative method can be used – refer to section 13.2
To install the dopplex Ability Upgrade Utility on your PC:
1. Click on the link sent to you to install the upgrade utility.
2. Select the ‘run
’ option when prompted to save or run the download (A software package called .Net may
be installed as part of this process if it is not already installed).
3. Check the box to accept the terms.
4. Select ‘next
’ until .Net and the Ability upgrade utility have both been installed.
