never be directed at people, animals, electrical equipment or fragile items or surfaces
where injury or damage could result. It can also rebound from the surface being cleaned or
cause removed debris to be ejected back towards the operator.
•
The unit / trailer should only be towed at legal speeds on the public highway by a vehicle
of adequately rated towing capacity (greater than 1020 kg).
•
The GVW of the trailer and unit is 900kg, therefore the unit should not be towed on the
road with the water tank
filled above the “Maximum Fill” point of 200 litres.
•
No maintenance or repair work should be attempted unless by persons trained and
competent to do so, following the isolation and making safe of the equipment as detailed
elsewhere within this manual.
•
No guards or other safety features may be disabled or bypassed, nor may they be
removed unless for authorised maintenance or repair, again following the correct isolation
procedures.
•
Personal protective equipment (PPE) should be provided and worn with the need being
assessed by the operator according to the task and working situation. However as a
minimum this should include:
o
Eye/face protection
o
Hearing protection
o
Head protection
o
Hand protection
o
Safety footwear (waterproof, slip resistant with protective toecaps)
o
Waterproof garments
o
Respiratory protective equipment (RPE) as assessed to be necessary.
o
“Hi Vis” outer garment as the work location requires, for example other moving
vehicles nearby.
Safety features and regular checking
Safety features are provided for the protection of all and their effectiveness must be verified
and recorded on a daily basis as follows:
•
All fixed guards visually confirmed to be in place, undamaged and effective.
•
Safety signage to be in place and legible.
•
Correct operation of “Emergency Stop” button

Safe loading of bins on to clamp and raising into cleaning position.
•
Check the bin(s) to ensure it is of an EN840 type handled by the machine and that it is
empty and free from any damage that could cause it to fail to attach correctly, overload
the machine, or become detached during tilting.
•
Keeping hands and limbs away from the clamp, and ensuring no other person is in the
hazard area, locate the bin(s) above the pick-up comb(s) and operate the clamping
(CLAMP APPLY) button, holding the button until the clamp is fully engaged to secure
the bin.
•
Only operate/raise the tilting mechanism (BIN RAISE) button once it is confirmed that
the bin is securely attached and that all persons are clear of the hazard area.
•
Never place body parts (notably arms, hands and fingers) in the area of the clamping
mechanism.
•
Verify that the bin is correctly located and clamped as the elevation process continues.
•
Do not release the bin clamp with the bin in an elevated position.
Safe lowering and detachment of bins from clamp
•
Keep clear of bins as lowering takes place, using the “BIN LOWER” button.
•
Keep clear of lifting mechanism
